Memorial Day is a day always to remember and never forget. A day we look back and honor the brave men and women who have served in the US military and fought to protect the freedom and liberty of our nation. These individuals made great sacrifices, from long-term injuries to losing their own lives, to defend the values and principles that make our country great. We must remember and honor these heroes on Memorial Day and all year round.
As we recall the sacrifices made by US military members on this day, it's essential to recognize the importance of hearing loss and its impact on their lives. According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, hearing loss and tinnitus are the two top service-related disabilities among our veterans. These are primarily due to the loud noises, vibrations and explosions military personnel are exposed to during training and combat.
Military Personnel Are More At Risk With Their Hearing
Research & development an ongoing part along with investing in new technologies for loud noises and explosions.
Over the years, the US military and our NATO partners have implemented various measures to protect its soldiers' hearing, including earplugs, earmuffs and other hearing protection devices. Soldiers are trained to use these devices correctly and to be aware of the risks of loud noises and explosions. However, despite these efforts, hearing loss remains a significant problem among military personnel. A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that military personnel are 30% more likely to have hearing loss than non-military personnel of the same age.
Our military and NATO partners have continued investing in research and developing new technology to protect our military personnel from further hearing loss. These include advanced earplugs that allow for better communication while blocking harmful noise levels, excessive vibrations, using noise-canceling headsets and other devices.
What we're doing to help protect the hearing of our military
Partnering with military brands to aid in providing the best protection possible.
At Comply™, we are proud to partner with military brands like INVISIO, OTTO, Gentex and FalCom, all of which contribute to the engineering and development of tactical communication devices that protect US soldiers against loud noises while also allowing situational awareness and localization. In addition, our foam tips add another layer of protection to these devices to help preserve hearing, allow more effective communication, and save lives.
At Comply, we believe it is our duty and privilege to help protect our military members and their hearing as they defend our freedom and liberty. So, as we honor the sacrifices made by our military personnel on Memorial Day, let's also remember the impact of hearing loss on the lives of all our soldiers, past and present. By doing so, we can honor their legacy and ensure that we continue to enjoy the freedoms they fought for and continue to defend.
To those who have served, who are active or reservists and those who were lost in battle - we thank you for your service.
